This video, of a homeless man playing a public piano in Alberta, was shot by a passer-by, Roslyn Polard. She uploaded it to YouTube on Oct 23 with his consent. For reasons that are obvious it went viral. Roslyn will be giving all the money to the guy. https://youtube/watch?v=aTsMTIofG2Q#t=78 So far, so very good. But you try finding the YouTube original now. It has been copied, aggregated and re-attributed so many times that its nearly invisible on Google. Hardly any of the major news sites who have picked it up have linked to embedded the YouTube original, theyve copied and locked it down within their own proprietary rendering system. It is a racing certainty that many of them will not have licensed it despite Roslyn asking them to, but simply taken it on the usual basis that everything on the internet is free. And then there are several YouTube parasites whove copied it and stuck their names on it. None of these people have Roslyns intention to give the revenue earned to the guy who composed and performed. If they have their way, theyll get richer, and hell stay poor..
