This was Cockers only #1 song but it was a smash hit....staying at #1 for four weeks and picking up an Oscar along the way for Best Original Song from the 1982 movie An Officer and A Gentleman. A bit of trivia. Will Jennings wrote the lyrics and the entire process...from idea to recording and inclusion in the movie...took only 30 days. Thats unheard of in the movie industry. Still is today.
