This was Navid before, and during his battle with cancer. He died alone yesterday in a Jakarta hospitable. He was deserted by his family in Iran when he adopted Christianity, even with the best efforts of friends to return him to Iran when he got brain cancer six months ago, the Iranian government refused to accept him as his Passport had expired. Despite the UNHCR having found him to be a genuine refugee, he died stateless, without family and an identity. He is another casualty of Australias inhumane and punitive approach to accepting refugees (the Australian government refused his application), and the larger issue of the over 40 MILLION displaced people in the world who only dream of having a safe and secure home to live in. Rest in Peace dear Navid, you may be gone, but you wont be forgotten x
