This was a far more interesting fight than I expected. Lots of sub-plots. Pulev has looked badly coordinated in previous fights, but here he was a very awkward customer, his jab was fast and stiff, his timing was good, he landed a number of quality straight one-twos, he was a demon in the clinch, and he DEFINITELY came to fight. Both men looked in superlative condition. Wladimir looked very athletic and dropped Pulev with a series of left hooks, all of them set up with feints. But otherwise, there may be signs that Wladimirs reflexes are starting to deteriorate. I cant remember the last time an opponent landed with a straight one-two on him 4 times in a single round. I scored Rd4 for Pulev. In addition, Wladimirs jab wasnt crisp - he was pawing with it, and he telegraphed it a number of times. Awkward opponents have that effect, but Wladimirs timing was still off, and it may be an indicator that, at 38, his reflexes are starting to slow down. I radically underestimated Pulev before this fight. He needed to turn it into a brawl to have any chance, and he did that. But his speed on the outside also got Wladimirs attention on several occasions. For as long as it lasted, I actually think that Pulev boxed pretty well, марлена. It could be argued that Pulev and his team failed to make adjustments when Wladimir took the left hook out of the bag, but it was always set up with a feint, and it was just never possible to know when the left hook was coming in.
