This was a message i recieved from Shannon a student at Swansea University ( if you want to participate in this survey below is the link to participate:: I am a master student at Swansea University and I am currently trying to reach parents of children on the autism spectrum to fill out an online survey for my dissertation. I am contacting different autism and parent groups to see if it is possible to have my information or my link passed on to parents or posted on a message board. I was hoping that you could post a short blurb on your facebook page. I am investigating the effect that receiving a child’s autism diagnosis can have on parents by looking at both the development of post-traumatic growth and post-traumatic stress symptoms that occur following the diagnosis. I hope to identify the characteristics of the parents that lead to these experiences. Understanding how parents are affected is important as a parent’s mental health is often overlooked, yet can have a large impact on their family and lives. I am looking for mothers and fathers who have at least one child diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder who would be willing to complete an anonymous 20-minute online survey. Further information about the study is provided to the participants in a debrief form at the end of the questionnaire.
