This was a post I shared a year ago and I have been asked to share it again. In the past number of weeks, I have had some bad news concerning some of my friends. These are beautiful people who have only done good in their lives but trial and tribulation has visited them and their families. When we walk through this life, it at times, can be a confusing place and at times we in our frailty wonder at the LORD’S wisdom. His ways are not our ways. At times like that, and we all have many of them, I think of the life of Joseph. Here we have a boy given a beautiful promise from God. From a youth he was informed of the special purpose his life would have – here was someone with purpose and direction. Yet he was betrayed by his closest and he thought his dearest. They threw him into a pit in a jealous rage and I’m sure, he as he lay in that horrid pit, cried, “Where is the promise Lord?” Then sold as a slave – where was that promise? Then he was taken to a fancy home and I’m sure he thought things were on the up. Then the false accusations, followed with years of hurt, pain and suffering. We are told that this was brutal and how terribly hurt he was at that time- the prison chins almost crippling him. Through the centuries we can here, “Lord, Lord, was I deceived. Did I deceive myself? Where is your promise?” In the end the Lord was faithful and just. His ways are not our ways and the clay can have a very hard time before it becomes a Beautiful vessel. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him from them all. The Lord is making you, in order to do this, He must break you – as he does with us all. But once your time of trial and testing is at an end, and it will be – you will fulfil His purpose in your life and the lives of others. Casting all your care on Him for He careth for you. The gift of the Lord is that when the storm comes and it will, his gift is the peace that passeth all understanding. He will keep you in perfect peace, all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord. Isaiah 26:3. Stop trying! Start trusting! Joel 2:25. Jer 29:11. Psalm 40:5.
