This was an eventful weekend. The pinnacle came on Saturday night when I was asked by a friend of a friend of a friend who heard me perform a couple of years ago, to come and entertain an intimate group of friends and colleagues at a semi-annual salon that she hosts in her beach-side condo in Marina del Rey. For 2 hours I recounted tales of hauling vibes about in NYC, classic gig scenarios, my transition from prog-rock drummer to jazz vibesman; I even fielded questions regarding a window into my practicing. In between, I would take time out to play a tune or two on a vintage Deagan vibraphone that has been in her family for years. A real treat. Thank you Melissa Clark, for a wonderful evening.
