This was an incredibly stupid move on his part. Heres a guy whos on top of the music business right now, is an advocate for gay rights and marriage equality, and has millions of fans, including kids. I used to have respect for him as an artist, but this stunt will alienate a lot of his fans. He said dressing up in a witchs nose, wig, and beard, was a random costume but I find that hard to believe, especially because the song is called Thrift Shop. Im not sure what PR person approved this as a good idea or thought it was funny for him to pull a Mel Gibson and dress up as a Shylock stereotype, but it certainly makes him look stupid as well as makes him lose some credibility as a liberal thinker. Im genuinely surprised that someone who has such a open mind about gay rights and marriage equality would not have an open mind for all people and would know to avoid stereotypes at all costs.
