This was in my school email today, too bad I dont have $4,000 and an extra 10 vacation days! Dear Stacey, Congratulations! You have been selected to attend the 2015 International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) Delegation on Medicine & Science, being held in Australia, China, and the United States. As member of Phi Theta Kappa, you have been chosen for this honor based on your exemplary academic performance and your declared major upon joining Phi Theta Kappa. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your selection! It is precisely the personal dedication, focus and academic excellence that you display that separates Phi Theta Kappa and its members from other college organizations. I believe strongly in holding values such as these in high regard and rewarding them whenever possible. As a member of the Delegation on Medicine & Science, depending on your destination you will: network with and learn from your Chinese counterparts at Jiaotong University Medical School, see ancient medicine in practice at the Guang An Men Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, explore the cutting edge of medical and scientific research at the Melbourne Brain Center or the Peter MacCallum Cancer Center, discover the healing secrets of indigenous bush medicine in Australia, and participate in a standardized patient case study and visit a gross anatomy lab in the San Francisco Bay Area. During ISLP, you will join the world’s best and brightest college students on a journey of discovery to one of the most exciting destinations in the world. You will engage in career-focused study detailing the history and global impact of careers — all while broadening your horizons in a foreign culture. Throughout your time at ISLP, you will also have ample opportunity to uncover your destination’s cultural treasures, explore its modern-day wonders and soak up everything your host country has to offer. Space in the Program is necessarily limited and applications are accepted as they are received. To make sure that you don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity, I encourage you to enroll as soon as possible at scholarlaureate.org. Your ISLP Student ID, which you will need to enroll online, is: XXXXXXX. All applications must be received by the enrollment deadline date of February 27, 2015. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Office of Admissions at (800) 778-0164 or via email at [email protected]. Additionally, visit scholarlaureate.org to learn more about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and for details on how to apply for scholarships to attend ISLP exclusively available to Phi Theta Kappa members. Congratulations again! I look forward to having you join us at the 2015 International Scholar Laureate Program. Sincerely, Marguerite C. Regan, Ph.D. Marguerite C. Regan, Ph.D. Dean of Academic Affairs
