This was not a post I was ready to make, but I have to tell you all that Della has finally gone to her forever home. No, it isnt a home on earth. Della crossed the bridge peacefully this morning while being examined by her vet, who has been there for her since she arrived in our home last year. Thank you Dr. Karl Leurart, and the care you gave Della! Her brave heart finally gave out, but she lived a happy and lovefilled life in the two years since she and Charlie were rescued, along with the rest of the Miami 45. Della had scarred lungs, few teeth, a battered stomach and fought through all of that to be healthy and happy. But the scarred lungs were her undoing, because they worked her precious heart harder, and finally, it just got too tired to go on. Della will always be a hero in my eyes; I think she took care of many of the Miami 45 and she definitely kept Charlie alive until we got there. Romp and play, Della, across the rainbow bridge! I love you my sweet baby!
