This was posted by a young, gay man here in Denver based on his experience last night. This Pride season we need to stand together!!! Last night I was harassed on the bus home from my gig at Broadways. Standing hunched over at 1 am, residual makeup smeared gray across my face, with a suitcase at my feet and a backpack on one shoulder I felt I looked more more like a zombie than a fairy. But a mere glance from me was enough to send a group of 5 to 6 guys into a homophobic rampage. For the next 15 minutes a bus FULL of people ignored the shouting of the deranged beatings my faggot ass deserved to be put in my place as I stood with my back turned and knees buckling in fear. Finally I exited the bus to a chorus of Fag! and received solace from only 2 things. 1. I chose not to become a martyr that night by choosing not to argue with a group of boys who seemed frighteningly excited to kick my ass. 2. THIS IS WHY I LOVE/NEED/FLAME OUT FOR PRIDE!!!! Its the one time of year where we are guaranteed our community is visible! Its the one time when it actually feels like we are the 5 or 6 instead of the 1! I am not a victim, I am proud!
