This was the first year my daughters were aware of and decided - TopicsExpress

This was the first year my daughters were aware of and decided there was a solemn need to celebrate April fools day. I was worried about it, to be honest, since I knew Claire (7yrs) was planning something over the last few days. Would she give our cat away and try to replace him with a roly-poly she found outside? Would she redesign our living room to look like a medieval castle and forest, with REAL dirt and stones and leaves? Would she create for me a breakfast drink, mixing all the sauces and condiments and spices from our pantry, ..... and then make me ingest it????? These would not be strange happenings for Claire. But there was no need to worry. When I woke up this morning, I was congratulated with Happy April Fools Day!!!! and led ceremonially to the living room by two ridiculously excited daughters, both dressed up as magicians (capes and wands). I was then entertained by an elaborate MAGIC SHOW in which stuffed animals were pulled mysteriously out of vases and cabinets, real eggs were turned into fake eggs, Annalise (4yrs) was cut in half and then glued back together, and more. Then over breakfast, I was told every knock-knock and why-did-the-chicken-cross-the-road joke they knew, several of which made zero sense but were super cute anyway. And to top it off, Claire has been coming up with random proverbs about fools throughout the day, some stolen from the Bible, some from Shakespeare, some just plain bizarre, and a few quite good. I already CANNOT wait for next year.
