This was the home of Joseph Gridley, the builder of the First Universalist Church of Kent. He lived here in Kent between 1864 and 1869. He was said to have been a faithful Baptist and that he built the Baptist church as well, although I am not quite sure where that might have been. Ive seen references to a German Baptist Church here in town in the deed indices at the County Recorders office. Im not sure if this is the church that Gridley built, but at least we know that one edifice that he built still stands today. I think he would be immensely proud of that fact.
