This was written and posted by my friend Thomas Spiriti. I cant think of any way to say it better: I have tried. I have really tried to defend President Obama for being on vacation even as major issues overwhelm our own country and throughout the world. (This fact alone will shock my friends who know my political beliefs!) This is the 21st century; I can do most of my work from anywhere with my phone alone. Knowing the president has incredible technology available to him, I did not mind him relaxing. But yesterday changes all of that. I spent yesterday in tears all day. I literally had chest pains every time I thought about James Foley. I cannot (and do not want) to imagine the last moments of his life before being beheaded by Islamic monsters. These thoughts interfered with everything I tried to do yesterday and today. I watched James Foleys family talking about him and openly cried. Then I watched our president speak for five minutes, giving a very weak response to the terrors ISIS wants to do to you and me! He did not even show enough dignity and gravitas to wear a tie at the podium. (Yes, President Obama, we know you are on vacation! We get it!) He said the most contrived, empty, meaningless words possible. And then, within minutes, went to play golf! Meanwhile, I had trouble working! I felt incredibly sad and extremely despondent for James Foley and his family. I was miserable. But Obama was able to play golf even when the evil executioner of James Foley called Obama out before the beheading! And the pictures of that golf game I have seen show a very happy, smiling Obama. This is disgusting. Oh, and as far as Obamas White House releasing information that they tried to save Foley and others; thanks for revealing our intentions and operations to the enemies. This only decreases the chances of survival for the others the monsters have vowed to execute as well. At least David Cameron, upon learning that the vile, evil executioner of James Foley had a British accent, cut short his vacation. I know some of my Facebook friends will disagree with this and want to send me their opinions. I LOVE good, honest political discourse, but the actions of our president are beyond defending. He should have been grieving as much as I and any feeling person in this country was. (Actually, more so.) It is clear he was not doing that from a golf course. Our country and the world are facing huge crises. But at least out president is improving his golf game.
