This week has brought for me reader/author issues. 1. Souther Vampire Mysteries. I am a reader of the book series, and a viewer of the TV series True Blood; and I am a fan of both. The TV series has departed from the books, into its own wonderful story lines. Unfortunately, the last few books have gone bad, and the ending, by all accounts, are awful. Meanwhile, the TV series, because of its evolution into a separate entity, is doing well. This is a strange phenomenon, considering TV or film is more often the lesser of the books. 2. Dungeons & Dragons, the original campaign setting of The Known World, later known as Mystara, and referred to as "Old D&D", now out of print, but still loved by many all over the world. The online fan community has found an Australian author who plagiarized certain items from this in her series of books, including names, maps, and images. The discussion is raging.
