This week in 1974: Canadian rockers Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) went to #1 on the US singles chart with You Aint Seen Nothin Yet (backed with Free Wheelin), on Mercury Records; the groups only US chart topper also topped the charts in Germany & native Canada, & reached #2 in the UK; the song was originally penned by Randy Bachman as a gift for his brother Gary, who was the band’s first manager; said Randy to Billboard, He stuttered. He had a speech impediment. We thought, just for fun...we’d take this song & I’d stutter & we’d send it to him. He’ll have the only copy in the world of this song by BTO; it was only after their record label claimed their third studio album, Not Fragile, was missing a hit single that they decided to dust off the track, sending the LP to US #1 as well…
