This week is National Travel and Tourism Week. The Mississippi Welcome Center in Greenville is hosting daily activities in celebration. The week began on Saturday with a presentation of Native American artifacts from Winterville Mounds Park and Museum. On Sunday, Mississippi specialty items were given to visitors. On Monday, representatives of Leroy Percy State Park displayed camping information. On Tuesday, MACE representative Chauncy Wright spoke about the 37th annual Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival to be held on Sept. 20. The remaining activities are: - Wednesday: Tourists Appreciation Day with Mars Inc., formerly Uncle Bens, displaying rice and giving samples to visitors. - Thursday: Health Day, Mid-Delta nurses will check blood pressure and give health assessment pamphlets. - Friday: Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau will share information about the county. - Saturday: Mississippi specialty items will be given to tourists and a Mississippi basket will be raffled. There will also be a viewing of the Flood of 1927 shown. - Sunday: Staff will serve doughnuts and give a Mothers Day prize to a tourist.
