This week my friend and fellow photographer Ross Bartholomew and I - TopicsExpress

This week my friend and fellow photographer Ross Bartholomew and I headed out to The Wave Rock in Utah. This protected formation is only accessible by a permit, with only 20 permits issued a day. Lucky for us we won a permit in the lottery which we applied for 3months in advance. The location of the Wave Rock is a 3 mile hike, each way roughly 9 1/2 kilometres, through sandstone hills, soft sand and other obstacles. In recent times this location has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, with the unfortunate events of last summer with 3 seperate hikers dying whilst hiking back from the location, due to getting lost as there is no real marked trail and heat related deaths as the temperature gets to over 110 f or around 41c degrees. So on that note we started the hike at 5.30am to avoid the heat, some camera gear was left behind and the back packs were filled with water, in fact, I carried out 9 litres of water for this hike along with camera gear. Needless to say arriving at the location was breathtaking and walking back was hot, but the load was lighter as I arrived back with only 1 1/2 litres of water. Great day, Thanks Ross, I thought this location was deserving of a number of images
