This week on Gracepointes… Listening has become hard to do. In recent times seems like very few are really listening; they maybe hearing but they are not listening. A server in a restaurant comes to take your order and it begins. They hear you but they are not listening to you. Have you ever noticed the mistakes about what you have ordered? It happens very often, really too many times. Maybe it is you. Perhaps sweet tea sounds like lemonade to them, or without ice really sounds like plenty of ice. They are not listening; they are merely hearing. Children will hear something but listening is another matter. You hear parents say, “Are you listening to me?” Husbands are the best when it comes to this very thing. Wives speak - no response, unless it is to come to dinner. Then it’s an instantaneous reaction! Maybe it is because so many are speaking. We have 500 cable channels, ear buds stuck in our ears, 2,000 songs on our devices and more being downloaded as you read this sentence. But the one voice that so many miss is the one voice they need to hear the most. Listening makes a difference. In them indeed is the process of fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah, which says: You shall indeed hear and hear but never grasp and understand; and you shall indeed look and look but never see and perceive. For this nation’s heart has grown gross (fat and dull), and their ears heavy and difficult of hearing, and their eyes they have tightly closed, lest they see and perceive with their eyes, and hear and comprehend the sense with their ears, and grasp and understand with their heart, and turn and I should heal them. But blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are your eyes because they do see, and your ears because they do hear. Matthew 13:14-16 (Amp) Note: this is so urgent. The reason people are not getting healed is the fact they are not listening to God. They are listening to the wrong voices, paying attention to the wrong thing. They may be hearing but they are not listening to what God is speaking to them. Are you? Some don’t even want to hear it at all. They have closed their ears by putting fingers in their ears; they have become dull of hearing, missing what God is saying. God is saying one thing and they are hearing another. Open your ears to His voice and be healed. He gets the order correct every time. And that is the point this week on Gracepointes.
