This week the News Shopper has covered our ongoing campaign for the installation of speed cameras on Hillreach. The Royal Borough of Greenwich has no power to introduce or operate speed cameras on this stretch of road and needs approval from Transport for London to do so. Disappointingly, TfL have made clear that they are not prepared to install speed cameras at Hillreach because the accident record there does not meet the required threshold of at least four deaths or seriously injuries over a three-year time period with two incidents related to speeding. I’m extremely disappointed by TfL’s response and last week joined local residents in pressing for the decision to be reviewed. There is a strong argument for the installation of average speed cameras on this stretch of road to prevent further death and serious injury and significant support in the local community for such action. We will not rest until weve made this stretch of road safer for all who live near it and were urging the Mayor of London to have the decision reviewed bit.ly/1uI60cF
