This week the Senate will vote on the Keystone XL Pipeline project. The House has already passed it and its just a step away from reaching the Presidents desk. For some reason this is a partisan issue, when in reality, this is a survival issue. Yes, many people might be happy about the prospect of energy independence, lower gas prices, and creating jobs. But if you put all three of those (temporary) benefits together, they dont even come close to justifying the passage of yet another fossil fuel project. Passing this bill tells the world that we dont give a damn about the environment. Striking down this bill is not even something we can hang our hat on: its just the right thing to do. This is a really big deal and if we dont start turning things around really soon, then well all be in big trouble, as seen in this video.
