This week the inn family lost a very dear friend and former employee, Juanita Newman. Well never forget the first day she came into our lives. We had just purchased the inn and were advertising for an assistant manager. Juanita arrived in a 1958 Studebaker, wearing a business suit. After scanning her impressive resume we told her wed love to have an assistant manager with so much personality and skill, but that we couldnt afford to pay someone with her qualifications. She told us that few people would hire a woman of 58, and she wasnt looking for a career, just something to keep her busy until her husband retired. So we agreed to try each other on for size. Oh, and by the way, did she think she could come to work in blue jeans? We became steadfast friends from that day on, and she was loved by staff and guests alike. We will all miss her.
