This week was a BIG week for apple. They have announced the iPhone - TopicsExpress

This week was a BIG week for apple. They have announced the iPhone 5C and 5S; they have also released iOS 7, iTunes 11.1, and one of my favorites, iTunes Radio. Many people seem to be frowning upon apple for this; however, you can’t judge a book by its cover. So let’s get right down into it, starting with the new iPhones. Let’s start with the iPhone 5C. Apple has really been getting thrown under the bus for this, but I personally don’t think that it’s that bad. Apple had said that instead of lowering the price of the current iPhone 5, they replaced it with the iPhone 5C. Here is the thing. The iPhone 5C actually has all the same internal parts and screen. The ONLY difference is the back case. Yes, it is colored. However, this material is actually stronger, safer, and gives the option for color for younger ones. As for the internal parts of the phone, those are actually the exact same as the iPhone 5. Remember, the original iPhones had plastic backs as well. It wasn’t until the iPhone 4 when they put the glass on the back. Glass is fragile. They wanted to make it stronger. As for the colors, some people like the option for color, while others think it’s a little cheesy. If you want performance of an iPhone 5, but $200 is just a little too expensive, I recommend the iPhone 5C. As for features within the OS, they are all there as well. Moving onto the iPhone 5S. Along with the iPhone 5C, Apple also announced the iPhone 5S, as we were expecting. The iPhone 5S is where there are major upgrades both on the outside and inside. First off, there are three colors, “Space Gray” which, from pictures, seems to be a little lighter than the black iPhone 5. Silver, this is basically the current white iPhone. Finally, we have Gold. Gold plates with white trim. Beautiful. A big change is the finger scanner. As this seems to be concerning people on whether or not apple has access to your finger print, they don’t. This data file is encrypted and stored in a chip on your phone that the internet has no access to. They have upgraded the flash to have an amber flash and a white flash to even out the flash to make it just look better. This double flash seems to be very good at evening out light when you need a flash. The idea is to prevent it from looking like a flash. Time for the biggest part, the processors. There are two processors in the iPhone 5S. The main one is the 64-bit processor. This is the first ever 64-bit processor in a smart phone. All other processors have been 32-bit. That means that this 64-bit is faster and can do more at once. Finally, the co-processor, the motion processor. This makes the phone faster with twisting and turning for games (Such as Temple Run) and GPS tracking. It also has a better compass. This just means that the phone will have less of a delay which is not really noticeable now. As for the really big one, iOS 7, it seems to be going well for apple. I have heard mixed feelings about it, but I say, give it a week. If you decide you don’t like it, people have managed to find ways to downgrade back to iOS 6. I don’t think apple wants you to do this, but it is possible. There are so many new features in iOS 7. To start, the entire design is different. It looks clean and neat. Another big thing is control center. When you swipe your finger up from just under the bottom of the screen, to the top of the screen, control center will open. Within control center, you have access to your general settings: Airplane Mode, Wifi, blue tooth, do not disturb, and portrait lock. After that you have your screen brightness. Following that, you have your music. After those, you have a new feature called AirDrop. This feature is for the newer devices only. It allows you to send pictures and videos to contacts or anyone nearby you who also have AirDrop on. Finally, you have a flashlight, a link to the clock app, calculator app, and camera app. Continuing with iOS 7, you will find big updates with notification center. You now have a today view, all view, and missed view. Missed is for missed calls and face times, All has notifications such as app updates, texts, and anything from other apps. The today view shows the date, a little weather forecast, your calendar events, and what you have going on for the following day. There is no way I could type up EVERYTHING about iOS 7, the rest you will have to see for yourself. This is a huge thing for apple and users like me and you. Finally, apple announced iTunes 11.1. I have noticed minor speed improvements, but beside that, I have not found anything too different about iTunes 11.1. They didn’t try to make it look like iOS 7 or anything like that, but they did change a few things. First off, if you update to iOS 7, you must use iTunes 11.1. Any other version will not work. The biggest feature of iTunes 11.1 is iTunes Radio. If you know of Pandora, then you know about iTunes radio. It is apples version of Pandora. The only difference is that it is in both iOS 7, and iTunes 11.1. This way, if you hear a song you like, you can download it directly from iTunes. It also syncs with your iTunes account so any songs you liked will be liked on other devices as well. These are all the new things apple announced this past week. All of this is now out. (iPhone 5S and 5C come out on September 20th). Although we may be seeing some big changes in Apple, they aren’t bad.
