This week we continue our sermon series on membership. We will be looking at the question: Is membership about what I get or about what I am called to do? Here are the questions that will be in the bulletin. 1. Look at Mark 9:33-37. What do these verses tell us about church membership? What do they tell us about how we might be approaching church membership incorrectly? 2. What does it mean to serve? Is this am important idea in the bible? If it is then how could we all be doing a better job of being servants? 3. Look at Ephesians 3:7-13. Paul writes of himself as a servant of the gospel. What does that tell us about servant hood? Was Paul the most qualified? Was he the most able? If not then why did he serve? 4. Describe someone you know who fits the ideal of what it means to be a servant? What makes them different from other people you know? What about them could help us to understand how church membership and servant hood go together? 5. Try to think of five signs that a church has lost its focus on service? What could help a church reclaim its understanding that membership is a call to service?
