This week we had a raft of visitors from near and far, notably Elizabeth Daly all the way from Australia, Niamh Dixon (a young triathlete from Reading) and Marlene Stirling from Glasgow. Welcome all of you, hope you enjoyed Wallace parkrun. It was a much better day in the park today, and your warm and dry volunteers this week were Tracey Walsh, Stephen Thompson, Billy Gordon, Gillian Alister, Seymour Murphy, Pat and Kerry. We very nearly had a new ladies course record from first lady home (2nd overall) Cathy McCourt - agonisingly just a few seconds off - but a great run nonetheless, after a fantastic result on Monday in the Dublin half marathon. Well done Cathy. Second lady home was Laura Simpson all the way from Larne, followed by our own local girl Julia McNeice (Jog Lisburn), who recorded a PB. Well done ladies. Prize for the most determined runner this morning went to young Jack McCausland from City of Lisburn AC - he just missed a PB by a few seconds but put an impressive performance in against the grown-ups to finish 17th overall and first among the juniors. First male grown-up home was Ciaran Rea who also just missed a PB, followed by a back from injury Arturs Sterns (welcome back), then First Timer Ian Wright. 4th male to finish today was John McConnell, who has run an incredible 99 parkruns, AND has also managed to volunteer many, many times - it can be done people, take note! John will hopefully be running his 100th parkrun at Wallace park next week, so come out and show your support and help him celebrate! Congratulations to all our 145 parkrunners this morning on a great performance - see you all next week!
