This weekend GI 44-45 will be displaying at The Victory Show, Cosby, where we will be premiering a new impression which has been in the pipeline for the last 12 months or so. Much research and hard work has gone in to this one - The 23rd Special Troops aka The Ghost Army. The 23rd were the only tactical deception unit of the American Army in WW2 and used all aspects of military deception - signals, camouflage and sonic to deceive the enemy. Sworn to secrecy for 50 years , the last remaining men of the the 23rd are only now talking about their missions and we are only now learning of the important role they played and the impact they had on the European front in WW2. Their first deployment into action was 1-4th July 1944 in Normandy, France, where Operation Elephant saw the 23rd take over the bivouac area of the 2nd Armoured Division in the Forest of Cerisy with the mission to cover the 2AD as it moved from reserve up into the line. It is this exact time frame that we will be portraying. Come and say hi if youre around... Just look or listen out for The Sherman!
