This weekend I attended my graduation for a post-graduate certification in Canonical Chinese Medicine. What is this? I spent approximately 400 additional hours over the last 3 years studying and deepening my knowledge of the roots of Chinese Herbal Medicine through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine. This institute is an international organization formed to promote the education, research and clinical application of the classical writings of East Asian medicine. For me, the key word in the description of the organization is clinical. I spent this additional time studying because practicing medicine is about helping people heal. Canonical Chinese Medicine is one of the tools I use to do this. Here is a picture of me and my mentor Arnaud Versluys at my graduation. I am immensely grateful to him for his dedication (many weeks away from his family, lecturing all around the world and many previous years of his own study in China) to teaching this medicine.
