This weekend I realised once again that nearly 4 months on a ship sailing around the world (three times!) gives you many gifts, some are obvious, others not. You see the world and experience other countries and cultures; you learn to share your home with nearly a thousand people of various ages (and this is not without its challenges) and you discover more about yourself than you probably want to BUT the greatest gift of all is simply that of lasting friendships. Certainly not everyone becomes your friend for life but a few, a precious few, do. We have just spent two days with four friends whom we hope will be our friends for a very long time because that degree of humour, joie de vivre and affection in our lives is far too valuable to give up! Thank you Brenda, Steve, Terry and Alfred...you may be American but youre nice!!
