This weekend marks four weeks of eating nutritarian-style: huge - TopicsExpress

This weekend marks four weeks of eating nutritarian-style: huge amounts of vegetables and leafy greens, fruit, mushrooms, onions, seeds and nuts, no animal products, no dairy, no sugar, no oil, no salt. Like vegan on steroids. The intention was to eliminate sugar and other cravings supported by the standard american diet, and those cravings disappeared after only a few days and Im now craving fruit and vegetables instead. Now Im just watching my health improve. One unexpected benefit is that the arthritis Ive had in one finger since I was 14 appears to be going away -- the pain and discoloration that has been there for decades is almost entire gone and the swelling has noticeably decreased. I just thought I had to live with that arthritis, so this is a lovely benefit! My fibromyalgia muscle-cramping episodes have decreased dramatically, too, and Ive cut my medication for that in half, with the intention to eliminate it completely in another month. Also Ive lost 12 pounds (7.5 of it fat, according to my body composition scale) in the four weeks without doing much more exercise, just taking walks. But I feel stronger and more up to longer walks, and Ill get back into weight training this week. My muscles feel like restless horses, wanting to get going! This is not like a diet where Im looking forward to being done with it and eating normally again. I can see myself easily staying with this (probably not as strictly as Im doing for the first six week period) for the rest of my life. I would like to do that, because Im really enjoying food for the first time that I can remember. Im really TASTING fruit and vegetables for the first time, and its wonderful. This was inspired by Dr. Joel Fuhrmans End of Dieting book if youd like to check it out.
