This weekend was the first time that my band Sounds Unlimited was double booked. During our 19 years of existence, weve had the opportunity of working with some of the best musicians so I knew we could do two shows in two locations at the same time. What happened was we were given the wrong date and when the correct date was given, we were already booked. I did not want to disappoint a wedding party in Athens nor Benedict College, so this is how we did it. Athens, Georgia, Sounds Unlimited Band co leader Leonard Maxey took with him vocalist Tutu DVyne, our bass player Brian Herrington, our drummer Brandon Kelly, our former saxophonist Jimmy Easton and Mike Biggers on lead guitar. Columbia, SC, I was the band leader with vocalist Pamela Bowman Hill, our former bass player David Heath, Wilkie Hill on lead guitar, David Linson on saxophone, and Jamal Harris on drums. The band received rave reviews in both locations. For years we have had the honor of performing with Tutu DVyne, Pam Bowman, Kristal Mindingall and our original vocalist Veronica Stokes and Eric Mayweather when available. We love the flexibility of working with such wonderful artist. In any band, professionalism is the key to success. I do not wish to double book again, but if it happens we are prepared. As a band leader, I am proud of everyone that helped to make this weekend a big success. In 2015 Sounds Unlimited Band will be celebrating 20 years.
