This weekend we were out participating in a life affirming coming - TopicsExpress

This weekend we were out participating in a life affirming coming of age, my cousin Clarke Perez Bar MItzvah; Saturday morning was spent in the synagogue, the place was packed and the sound of so many voices lifting up their hearts was a joyous experience. The fantastic rabbi gave a beautiful sermon which spoke of triumph through adversity and obviously mentioned the past weeks tragedies in France. He spoke with passion and eloquence and was completely inspiring. I decided on a news fast as I had reached saturation point with the endless coverage of the horrors that happened in and near Paris. Yesterday evening was spent laughing, eating, drinking lychee martinis and dancing like nobody was watching. Israeli style mixed and separate dancing and then a great big disco throwing shapes around the floor watching my eight year old turn into John Travolta albeit in a grey suit with black shirt rather than a white one. It was the perfect antidote. This morning I felt able to cast a slightly bleary eye over yesterdays coverage and this was one of the first items to greet me. In my day, and yes, we all know it was during the last century, a journalists job was to interview and report the news in a clear unbiased manner asking the five pertinent questions of: Who What When Where Why The news item, story, report, call it what you will was then relayed and only then would there be comment or personal opinion. The BBC, as a publicly funded company, one that is owned by US, has a duty of care to stick to the rules; not grind personal axes at other peoples expense. LIttle Timmy went one step too far with this and deserves to be hauled over the coals...naked and face down (and then again just to make sure he gets the message). What he did would be tantamount to a news reporter, in the dim and distant past, asking a survivor of the Hillsborough Disaster whether they thought it was in fact something that was bound to happen because they were Liverpool fans... I will be writing to the BBC to protest; will you? https://youtube/watch?v=ISXgCRDIr1w
