This weeks master of media manipulation, taking the mantle from last weeks winner Taylor Swift who left all her music on every other platform EXCEPT Spotify, is Jack Conte. Jack is in every media outlet around the world telling the story of how he basically mismanaged the finances on his band Pomplamooses month long tour resulting a 12k loss from a hundred grands worth of ticket sales. At the same time he gets a bit of promotion in for a website called Patreon. Full disclosure from old Jacky boy would have told everyone he has a 50% stake in Patreon, a company that has 17 million dollars worth of VC funding in the bank and takes a 5% fee on a million dollars a month of crowdfunding that goes through the website. So, music aside, hes a multi-millionaire that makes 50k a month without getting out of bed. Looking at the way the band spent like drunken sailors on their tour, its hard not to see this story as anything other than a promotion grab for Patreon?? So his amazing display of transparency wasnt transparent at all??? Should drive up the streaming revenue as well eh?? How good is the music though eh?? (absolute Shite would describe it fairly accurately)...end of rant.
