This week’s Juliaism takes place in Blackfoot, ID. Two white houses were built next to each other in a new development off of Rich Ln. It doesn’t seem like much, but the neighbors that build next to us in the white two story would forever be imprinted on my heart. Rulon and I had just bought an older BMW from the repo lot. We were going to fix it up and sell it. Julia and Kyle know Rulon’s personality very well. He’s very meticulous and sometimes fussy with his property. It’s important to note that Kyle and Julia had a small window in their bathroom that faced north toward our house. This is where they watched the prank unfold……. We were driving down our street toward our house on our way home from church. As we got closer, Rulon eyed our driveway intensely, said something like, “What the heck!”, and swerved the suburban up onto the sidewalk in a frantic motion. He hopped out of the suburban and was knelt beside the BMW with vampire like speed. As I got out, I could see that there were 3 bullet holes shot in the side of the BMW. Who knew that residential Mountain View Estates had gang violence? Was the white color of the car not neutral enough for B-towns gangs? These thoughts and more raced through our heads. Upon further investigation, Rulon realized that they were sticker bullet holes and upon that revelation, I turned to look at the window on the north side of Kyle and Julia’s house……Two heads quickly disappeared out of sight and I began to laugh so hard I almost fell over. They had sacrificed missing some spiritual lessons at church and come home early to set up the prank. They knew Rulon would spot the holes immediately and were only too pleased when they saw the suburban swerve and almost end up in the yard for the shock of seeing bullet holes. And so my Juliasm has a little Kyleism to go with it. Sometimes you have to skip church so you can play the perfect prank on the perfect person. I’m sure when we laugh, the Lord laughs with us.
