This will likely be ruled a justifiable homicide, but it seems obvious to me that there is a better way. I know police work is scary as hell, and this is classic suicide by cop, but if two police officers cant deal with a guy with a knife without immediately unloading 12 bullets into his body, something is wrong. They knew he had a knife before they got there. What about moving in a little slower, and waiting a minute for backup? It was only 15 seconds from the time they got out of the vehicle until they started shooting, and backup WAS there within a minute. What about talking to the guy from behind their vehicle? What about trying a taser, or pepper spray, or mace, or a bean bag gun? What about a shot to the leg?
