This woman is a fantastic speaker, and offers a perspective on animal rights that I think a lot of non-vegans wont have heard. Everything she says is spot on and pretty much impossible to argue against right from the start. When we see that laws protect animals from unnecessary suffering, they seem superficially impressive, but it doesnt take long, and you dont have to be a lawyer to figure out that if the law prohibits causing unnecessary suffering, it creates a corollary, meaning it permits us to cause necessary suffering. What is necessary suffering? Well, we write the laws, we enforce the laws, we interpret them. Turns out, its necessary for an animal to suffer whenever we say so. So our laws prohibit gratuitous suffering, the kind thats caused sheerly by what we might call wicked intent, but as soon as theres a human purpose - and really, almost any purpose will do - that suffering is necessary and protected. - Leslie Bisgould Please open your eyes, and begin to truly understand what is necessary for us to survive and live happy, healthy lives. If you do that, and remain honest and open-minded, youll soon realise that of the animals that suffer and die for food, clothing, entertainment and science ALL endure unnecessary suffering. Every animal product on the market is a product of unnecessary suffering. Every cosmetic, household chemical and cleaning product that was tested on animals is a product of unnecessary suffering. Every fur coat, every leather jacket, every steak, every glass of dairy milk, every bacon sandwich, every fried egg... is a product of unnecessary violence and suffering. There is no sound justification for such cruelty. Stand for peace. Stand for compassion. Stand for every individuals right not to be owned, used, exploited, harmed and killed for someone elses greed.
