This year has been particularly tough for me. I’ve been dealing with severe mental illness alongside the stress of university and the deaths of two people I was very close to. Throughout all of this my flatmate and best friend Rick Zwaan has consistently been there for me. He’s stayed up late with me crying, approached every situation with empathy and compassion, and been my absolute rock. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with him on VUWSA. As leader of the Welfare Team he has guided Madeleine and I with kindness, an intricate knowledge of the association and the university, and a true passion for making students’ lives better. He is now running for President of VUWSA. I have absolute confidence in his ability to lead the organisation strongly in the right direction while still retaining his thoughtfulness and respect for others. Fairer Fares, Rental WoFs and a great Orientation are all things I’m certain he will achieve. Voting opens Wednesday via email. Please, vote Rick Zwaan for VUWSA President. He deserves it more than anyone.
