This year it is municipal election year in Brampton, a small suburb of our province of Ontario in Canada. So I may term this as a very happening event in a town of mostly visible minority residents. But where the key decision makers are the old school till date, which in my humble opinion have stayed disconnected with the “real” grass root issues. Some of the reasons could be that the old school and the new immigrants have never tried to develop an understanding towards each other, which only is possible by interacting. Our city which has the resources and the infrastructure to bridge this gap, has never taken any steps to even show that they think on these lines i.e. to develop inter community relations (reasons best known to the city). As we have not seen noticeable change in our city council over the last decade. Rather the city key players have successfully divide our Brampton community furthermore, by at times wearing flashy ethnic clothing and reciting one or two ethnic greeting phrases and we the new immigrants have fallen a innocent prey to these gimmicks. It is high time that we as a collective Brampton community should organize ourselves and this forum my friends is a great first step towards roads to achievements. My humble suggestion lets reach out to all (including the old school) and tell them we all are in this together , and it is time that we all take each other a bit more seriously and show love and respect towards each other.
