Thomas Zygambio and Clayson Hamasaka’s detention without charge - TopicsExpress

Thomas Zygambio and Clayson Hamasaka’s detention without charge should act as wake up call to all right thinking Zambians. Apart from this grave injustice to Clayson and his family, I found it shocking that sections of the media who had undergone harassment under Chiluba chose to ignore the story. Additionally ZNBC did not air the story until the time Clayson was released. Where are we going as a country? Are our fortunes so intertwined with the continued stay of PF in office that we opt to bury our heads in the sand rather than inform the Zambian people about what has happened and the consequences of such actions with regard the abuse of power and the trampling of citizens rights through warrants obtained under false pretenses? I shudder to think where we will be by 2016 if such acts of blatant abuse of state machinery will go on without end. It is about time that those in power learn to distinguish between what they my deem as politically expedient and what is morally reprehensible. Our young democracy is under threat.
