Those of you with children in school, beware of Common Core. It is a system designed to standardize students and to direct them along the best career paths (as determined NOT by the child or parents, but by the school / bureaucrats / Big Government), and to fill looming job shortages in the it takes a village socialist society, the dream of liberals and progressives everywhere. It takes away individuality, both from the child and the teacher. It is very intrusive, using various data mining techniques to gather immense information about the child, and family. Here are a couple of quotes that should give any parent cause for concern. From “Promoting Grit, Tenacity, and Perseverance: Critical Factors for Success in the 21st Century,” a report released by the Department of Education, there is a section detailing how to measure qualities in a student through Behavioral Task Performance. --- --- “Behavioral task performance measures are the broad set of methods used to capture behaviors consistent with perseverance or lack thereof—and in many cases, associated emotional experiences, physical movements or facial expressions, physiological responses, and thoughts— that students do in response to a particular challenge. [...] Understanding the emotions or physiological state of a student while they’re presented with a challenge can be measured through analysis of facial expressions, EEG brain wave patterns, skin conductance, heart rate variability, posture and eye-tracking.” “[...] Sensors provide constant, parallel streams of data and are used with data mining techniques and self-report measures to examine frustration, motivation/flow, confidence, boredom and fatigue.” To remind you, this comes from the Dept. of Educations own web site! Without going into too much detail. here are some of the equipment schools can use - --- Mood Meter - a device that captures facial expression through a camera on a laptop while software analyzes the mood; --- Posture Sensing Chair - a chair with pressure sensors on the seat and back to evaluate student interest in order to better learn how to improve the experience for students --- Computer Mouse and Wristbands equipped with sensors to track different metrics. If you havent read enough to want to jerk your child out of public school, right now, consider that the report also highlights the value of FMRI (functional magnetic resonance imagery), which would reveal different areas of activity in your childs brain through scans. He is well spoken and passionate about what he sees as further demise of American education. If only more parents would get just as passionate about their own children . . . .
