Those people aren’t leaders. They may be decent people, they may have set sail with their first-rate MBAs (such as Rick Wagoner, the Chairman of GM for whom Lutz has kind words) but they are managers or caretakers who don’t understand the vast distance that separates leadership from management. Not one of the people Lutz profiles would have been able to perform the hardest feat in business, which is to start and build a significant company from a cold start.
