Those were the days! Children had a lot more respect for everyone, and am I crazy or wasnt there also a LOT less crime,? SPARE THE ROD & SPOIL THE CHILD. Jack Smart beat my butt on a regular basis....and no it wasnt child abuse, It was love.....or I dont think even the Chief of Police ( for 20+ years) would have been able to get away with it. There IS a difference between discipline & abuser. He never burned me with a cigarette unless it was an accident, and he never broke any of my bones....but he DID set my rear end on fire and use his hand to teach me right from wrong & respect for my elders......a trait that is vanishing more every day. Thank You Daddy...I was a handful, but I knew right from wrong even if I made some choices that didnt seem like it at the time! Thank you for making sure I said Maam & Sir ....and yes I taught my children as you taught me. ..again....some listened better than the others. Thank You for drawing your line....and refusing to back down from it where right from wrong was concerned.....and for making sure I ALWAYS said Yes Sir.
