Though Dr. Sylvia Olyayinka Blyden is a naturally bold person and does not mint her words when she wants to speak out her mind, it is curious to know that for the first time in her life, she could not come out openly to express her views on something that bugged her mind so deeply. What is certain is the fact that Sylvia did not resign for nothing and that it is also crystal clear that she felt so embarrassed to the point that she did not want to make the reasons for her resignation public. Sylvia’s life is dominated by her insatiable desire for power, fame and recognition. In order to keep our people’s curiosity satisfied about the true reasons that forced Sylvia to tender her letter of resignation to the president, we went extra-miles to get the facts through our State House sources. According to impeccable State House sources, Sylvia’s political demise started when she unceremoniously abandoned her office and stayed away from work for a whole period of two months. Sources say, she had been involved in endless internal wrangling with the State House Communications Officer, Mr. Jarrah Kawusu-Konte and was expecting the president to arbitrate in her favour but this did not happen! So, she decided to stay at home. However, upon her resumption of duty, she realized that the political wind had changed direction in the seat of power. She was no longer the President’s blue-eyed girl! Most of her duties as Special Executive Assistant (SEA) were no performed by a young man called Brian Gilpin, the president’s Personal Assistant. Sylvia was visibly embarrassed by this turn of the tide at the apex of authority. To make matters worse, the president would attend functions and other important state ceremonies without involving Sylvia who was left in the cold on a number of occasions. Being left in the cold and in oblivion were two phenomena that did not correlate with Sylvia’s personality and her insatiable thirst for recognition and power. Inside State Houses sources say indeed Sylvia had a closed-door meeting with the president in which she spoke above her voice to express her concerns about the role played by Brian Gilpin and her marginalization by the president. Sources say, Sylvia threatened to resign if the president did not do anything to reverse the situation. The president reportedly told her she was free to take any decision that she wanted to take. This was the last straw that broke the camel’s back! If Sylvia did not previously know that she had been shown the exit door, this was the day she realized that her presence was no longer needed around the president. However, she left the State House with no criminal record! source: whatsapp.
