Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death... Psalm 23:4. The Book of Common Prayer pg 613 Well, maybe it isnt THAT bad but it still sucks. Someone I love is going through a trying time and I pray for this person a lot. When I first heard about it, the burden of my loved ones pain took me down, down, down for a few days. I felt sad, mad, helpless. On the third day (metaphoric maybe), while driving up the hill to my home, I felt lifted, buoyed, MY load lightened. Though I had been praying on this matter, I had forgotten to put it in Gods hands. But God hadnt forgotten. I now felt as though God was helping me carry the load of what I couldnt change. What a blessing! The 23rd Psalm goes on to say You are with me. You are with me yesterday, today, tomorrow and always. It was I who had forgotten. Even when the way goes through Death Valley I am not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherds crook makes me feel secure.
