Though the Big Parade neither asks for nor accepts donations, a few people have asked about contributing financially. The answer is, you dont have to! However, many of you who walked with us on Sunday (or have in the past) know about the effort to purchase the Corralitas Red Car Property and turn it into a public park. That effort is now ramping up, as the Trust for Public Land has obtained an option to do just that. So, if youre feeling generous, you can donate to them (as some Big Paraders have already done). Heres the info, courtesy of the trusts philanthropy department. You can donate online at the URL below, but that goes into the trusts general fund and isnt earmarked for our area. Thats here: https://secure3.convio.net/tpl/site/Donation2?idb=673987454&df_id=4281&4281.donation=form1 This is fine, and if youve already donated that way, great! If you want your cash to go specifically for Corralitas and other preservation efforts in our region, the way to do it is to send a check. Make it payable to The Trust for Public Land, and include a note specifying it for Southern California Natural Lands. This is the address: The Trust for Public Land Attention: Philanthropy Services 101 Montgomery Street, 9th Floor San Francisco, CA 94104 Again, my goal with the Big Parade is to get you walking, not to raise money, but Corralitas is so important and threatened, and Ive been moved by the number of people whove asked for a way to contribute. For those of you, this is it. And thanks.
