Thought I would post this on this site because many of us from Chester can identify. Since theyre talking about snow tomorrow and into Tuesday, and none of the experts wants to commit on part 2 of the storm, it brings back a few memories. I remember way back when, Mom waking us up and saying no school today at Rez. Cool. All Philadelphia Public and Parochial schools closed. My sister Kathy and I would look outside and see only a couple of inches on the ground. No big deal. We would call friends to see what to do on our day off. Sledding? Yep! Snowman? Yep! Listen to the radio for updates? Yep! Then, we would sit in our kitchen waiting to do all of the above while listening to the radio. Then, the 1-2 inches would become 2-4 inches, then 4-6 inches, then 6-8 inches, then they would give up and just say 8+ inches, then before you knew it we were having a full blown Bizzard! Eventually we would lose power and Dad would fire up the original Kerosene heater, years before the new efficient ones were created. So, Im hoping that we dont get blasted this time, with these two storms but, in a way, hoping there are two kids out there experiencing what myself and my sister did many years ago. It was so cool and a memory Ill keep forever! 😊
