Thought Id do a little blog explaining my EP trilogy and what it all means etc as a lot of you have been asking! :-) Obviously each of the EPs has a similar title - Fools, Sinners, and Liars.. and each of these represent a stage in a relationship. All of the songs on the EPs (minus King and Forest Fires) are about this one relationship. Fools EP talks about the initial liking eachother phase, Sinners EP talks about emotions during the relationship and Liars EP explores the ending and how it happened. I always planned it this way and used past/current feelings (funnily enough my life actually kind of followed the pattern!) to write all of the songs. As for the EP artwork, a lot of you have noticed that they all involve water. Theres no real explanation for this apart from the fact that I have always had a fascination with the ocean and loved surreal photography. However, the Fools cover represents taking that initial step of getting into the water (hence why Im only half in it), by the Sinners cover Im so deep in the water that Im underground, but the water is still seeping through (hence the rain) and for the Liars cover Im trying to swim back to the top, and escape my horrible situation. You may have also noticed that the music videos each have their own element.. Fools is water to show the purity of the very beginning of a relationship, Sinners is fire to represent passion, and Lovers or Liars (as youll see this Sunday!) is ice to show how things can quickly turn cold. The keys are present in every video as a constant reminder that feelings are always there, and can leave us trapped. Its all supposed to be very ambiguous anyway but thats a basic outline of it.. hope I havent bored you to tears!
