Thought Id mention this just because it came up this morning: Im pretty sure I know how we all have gotten the idea that buying music from record labels or places like Amazon somehow takes money out of a bands pocket, but guys, that has not really ever been the case in my own experience. Aside from profit-share deals the band has worked out with the labels, the way it works is that places like Amazon have to buy copies from your distributor, and if your distributor gets more orders, they order more stuff from the label. If the label gets more orders then they are more likely to want to continue working with a band and also can increase their production budget for the next record (which is better for band and fan alike). The only times when it screws the artist is when you buy used CDs or marked-up resales via eBay. So please dont go thinking that its in the best interests of the artist to buy from them directly instead of through a label or store... the truth is that ANY purchase helps.
