Thought; Jesus gave Peter the "keys to the Kingdom of Heaven" because of his belief that Jesus was truly the Son of God. Jesus then told His Apostles how he was going to be treated and be put to death and be raised three days later. Peter was upset and said, "God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you!" Jesus said to Peter "Get behind me, Satan! You are and obstacle to me! You are thinking not as God does, but as humans do!" People seem to want to void all suffering at any cost, neglecting to see it is their only way to eternal life. How would it be that if someone in the stands of a game would would expect to be the All-Star MVP, but never practiced with the team and never played a game in their life? We tend to want comforts here and a free ride to Heaven, neglecting to realize that the way Home takes some work, and yes, some suffering. Jesus showed us how to do it.
