Thought for Today - Light and Momentary Afflictions – Part 1 I would like to share a message dealing with troubles and afflictions that we all have, and not lose heart. We will not be defeated! For, if we are in the Lord, nothing else matters. Nothing else matters if I am in the Lord! A friend recently awakened me to the harsh reality that aside from being disabled that I was now a senior citizen. I never thought that I would be both! Oh, my goodness! At least, I am young in heart. We dont necessarily mind getting old, as much as we do in suffering through our aches and pains. In fact, we do not like it at all. However, if we are in the Lord nothing else matters. Let’s read 2nd Corinthians 4:16-18 –“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” I praise God for this passage. Hallelujah! First, verse 16 says, “We do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away , yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day .” As much as some of us might not like it, we are all mortal human beings. Every day our physical bodies get closer and closer to death. We cannot escape the reality of it no matter how science tries. What is it that really matters in life? Does what matter a body of perfection, or what is in the heart of men? In Davids being chosen to be the king over Israel, 2nd Samuel 16:7 says, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
