Thought for the Day- I See - Luke 10: 16-24 Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.” When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way. “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- As a kid, I loved watching Roger Ramjet. It was one of the coolest cartoons on the TV planet (which wasnt so large back then). After the show, my brother and I would reenact scenes. I always got to play Roger Ramjet. I thought I was doing something; after all, the show was named Roger Ramjet. My brother played Lance Crossfire and our Mom was Lotta Love. Our reenactments always ended with Lance telling Roger to shut up. I confess that it was years of role playing before I caught on (he even stopped calling me Roger!) He knew Id finally saw the light when I repeatedly called out his name and told him to shut up when he answered. I, like the disciples, was caught up in being in the limelight of being a star. One could argue that Jesus was pulling them back to earth when He said, Yes, I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning. (or, Yeah, yeah, yeah, no lets get back to whats really important for you). Then he told them that it was not important that demons obeyed them but rather that they were in registered in heaven. It became clear to me that being Roger Ramjet, with a show named after me was not as important as I was always being told to shut up at the end of our little skits. When I caught on, my Mom gave me the Its about time! look. Jesus was grateful to His Father for letting the disciples see what He was revealing with childlike innocence. I am grateful that Jesus reveals to me in like manner. I rejoice with my best childhood expressions with every revelation Jesus opens my eyes to see for I know it was the Blood washed away everything that fogged my vision. Father, open our eyes that we may see what the Son is revealing to us.
